It is with sadness that I announce the closing of Doc Chey’s Grant Park. Our last day of business will be June 30, 2023.

We have had a great 15 year run in Grant Park, first as Stella Neighborhood Trattoria and then as Doc Chey’s Noodle House. As most of you know, the last 3 years have been brutal for the restaurant industry. Being in Grant Park made it even worse because nearby office workers (a significant portion of our lunch customers) vacated their office buildings for over a year, which made survival a real struggle. As COVID began to wane, we were faced with labor shortages and rapidly increasing product costs. In June 2022, we were devastated by the loss of my business partner, Melanie Vaughn, who was integral to the operation of Doc Chey’s Grant Park. All of this made operating a profitable business difficult and, at times, impossible.

On July 8th, after a quick update, Charles Wang will open the location as Chef Wang’s. Here is a link to his menu (chefwangs.com) and they will continue using the same phone number (404-688-4238). You will see many of the same faces in the kitchen and dining room that you have become accustomed to you over the years at Doc Chey’s. Please give Chef Wang’s a try. I think you will be pleased.

I would like to personally thank every employee who worked at Doc Chey’s Grant Park and Stella and each and every guest who dined with us over the past 15 years. I was and continue to be truly appreciative of every guest who walks through our doors because I know you have lots of choices in where to spend your dining dollars and you placed your trust in us. I hope this gratitude was evident whenever we met at the restaurant.

Your Karma Club rewards and gift cards will continue to be redeemable at Doc Chey’s Morningside and Osteria 832. My hope is that you will make the trip to Doc Chey’s Morningside to enjoy your favorites and say hello. It’s only 4 miles away!

Thanks again for supporting Doc Chey’s Grant Park. I am forever grateful.

Sincerely,
Rich Chey
